22nd Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition
Balfours entered 7 Premium Pie varieties in this year's 22nd Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition. We had our best result yet with each of the pies winning either a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal.
Each pie is judged on the following criteria:
1. External Appearance - eye appeal, pastry appearance and baked quality.
2. Internal Appearance - pastry thickness, the meat filling, consistency, quality, quantity, colour.
3. Hot characteristics - stability of filling and pastry, aroma, taste.
The judges decide how well each pie meets the above criteria and award a medal if it deserves it. We think our pies did pretty well!
